Used Modern Jeep - Buy into the Legend

Of all the modern Jeeps the Wrangler is probably the most recognizable, the definitive Jeep model. It started out in life as the YJ in 1987 and was updated to the TJ in 1996 and then the JK in 2007. It is the direct descendent of the original WWII Jeeps and still bears significant resemblance to those early models.

Next in line of merit would have to be the Cherokee models. These were aimed at a very different market, that of the luxury 4x4 vehicle. The Cherokee started out in 1974 on the SJ platform and progressed to the XJ in 1984 then in 2001 changed in the US market to a new Liberty KJ whilst in the rest of the world was still sold as the Cherokee. This difference in name continued with the updated KK platform in 2008.

The Grand Cherokee has proved a most popular model with a very high specification in terms of luxury and yet at the same time keeping the off-road pedigree that distinguishes the Jeep brand. The first model was built in 1993 and based on the ZJ platform. In 1999 it moved to the WJ Platform and in 2005 was superseded by the WK platform.

More recent Jeep models include the Compass and Patriot both based on the MJ platform. These are the entry level of the sports utility vehicle range or SUV. Each target a different part of the crossover market that appeal to different lifestyle choices.

The final modern Jeep is the Jeep Commander. This is designed on the XK platform to be a big boxy vehicle in the style of the old Wagoneer Jeep. This is a 7 seated vehicle of imposing stature with all the tradition of the Jeep brand in a modern setting that will undoubtedly appeal to the Jeep fan base.

So think about what you want, what you need and see yourself in one of these vehicles. Become a part of the Legend that is and continues to be Jeep.
